Vision
Our vision for WishingWell is to help you stay connected with friends and family during difficult times; to allow communities to come together and support one another. Whether you bring a meal, send a gift card to a coworker, or help organize a care calendar for a loved one, this is where you can make a difference!
As WishingWell grows, we plan to pay it forward by sponsoring scholarships and finding fresh ways to help within our communities.
With your prayers and donations, we will impact lives.
Meet the founder
Hi, my name is Kelly, and I grew up in a small rural community in Iowa with a population of approximately 1500 people. Some may think a small community has nothing to offer because it lacks the benefits of a big city, however I would disagree. Let me tell you why!
When I was 14 years old, my father was diagnosed with a grade IV astrocytoma (a very aggressive malignant brain tumor). He was a farmer, small business owner and the type of person always willing to lend a helping hand to others. When he was diagnosed with cancer, he didn’t fight it alone~ Not only did our entire family rally around and support him, but the entire community came together to offer their help! Area neighbors came and helped with fieldwork, many friends and family brought food, well wishes and lots of prayers~ We truly felt the power of a small community!
I have worked for the past 30 years in healthcare, and I have seen many types of illness and tragedy. These situations can change a person’s life and flip it entirely upside down. A family may be hundreds of miles away from home while taking care of a loved one. Often, leaving other family members at home and needing help. Unfortunately, not everyone has a good support team. Everyone is busy working, running after their kids, and attending all the functions of a busy life. I can certainly relate as a wife and mother of 4 children and 4 grandchildren. Sometimes, when lives get busy, we forget to reach out and help those around us that are less fortunate or could just use an encouraging word. I know that over the years, I became one of those busy people that always had great intentions of bringing someone a meal or sending them a card. However, by the time I got home at the end of the day, I had already moved on to my own activities and didn’t always get around to doing what I intended. I felt there needed to be an easier and more convenient way to offer support for friends, family, coworkers, and community. Convenience needed to be the key…
Our lives are always going to be busy and will only continue to get busier.
WishingWell is something that I envision not only as a way to keep people in touch, but to bring people together to be that support system. Whether you are dealing with a health issue or a traumatic event, whatever it might be, I hope the WishingWell platform will help bring people together and we can be good examples for our next generation.
Sincerely,
Founder, WishingWell
